      1. “Royal Ancestry: A Study in Colonial & Medieval Families,” Douglas Richardson (2013):
“CONAN I le Tort, Duke of Brittany, son of Judicael Bérenger, Count of Rennes, by his wife, Gerberge. He was born about 922. He married about 973 ERMENGARDE OF ANJOU, daughter of Geoffroi I Grisegonelle, Count of Anjou, by his 1st wife, Adèle, daughter of Robert, Count of Troyes and Meaux [see Appendix, Line A, Gen. 8 for her ancestry]. They had four sons, Geoffroi (I) [Duke of Brittany], Judicael [Bishop of Vannes], Catuallon [Abbot of Redon], and Urvod, and one daughter, Judith. He was present at the court of Eudes, Count of Chartres, in 979. In 981 he fought a battle against Guerech, Count of Nantes, and his Angevin allies, which is called the "first" Battle of Conquereuil. In 990 he made a donation to Mont Saint-Michel. CONAN I, Duke of Brittany, was slain at the 2nd Battle of Conquereuil near Nantes 27 June 992.
