1.2.5 8 JACQUES (JACOB) COSSART: (Jacque; Jacques).
Jacques (Jacob) Cossart, was born April 11, 1668 and baptised April 18, 1668 in New York City; removed to Brooklyn, New York, where he died in 1731. Jacques married, in 1695 to Anna Maria Springsteen, the daughter of John Caspers Springsteen. The Kershaw and Kershow family of Somerset County, N.J., to 1806 are the
descendants of this couple through their sons, Joost and Jerome who settled near Harlingen, New Jersey.
“Jacob Cossart, born 1668, married 1695 Anna Maria, daughter of John Caspars Springsteen. He was a resident of Brooklyn, their posterity bearing the name Cashow or Corshow.” (Reference: History of Harlem - 188].- Riker, page 228).
“September 28, 1695 - Jakop Cassou, a young man born in New York, married to Anna Maria Johannes or Teunissen, born in Cripplebush, L. I.” (Reference: Holland Society of New York, Year Book 1897, page 143 also King County Genealogical Club - Collection, Volume 1, Nos. 1-6, page 96, of 1884).

“Jacob Cashow of Brooklyn born in New York, married September 28 1695, Anna Maria Rapalje, daughter of Tunis and Sarah Van Veshton, born at Cripple Bush. His will dated May 31, 1754; proved. October 2, 1758 (R.L. 21 F., 105, N.Y.). He gives to Jacob’s son, Tunis, his gun; and to Abraham the land at Cellers Neck. (Reference: First Settlers around. Oyster Bay, Long Island.).
