1. Possible will of father or grandfather? Rochester Consistory Court Probate for Anthony Dennett of Tonbridge, Reg. will DRb/Pwr/22.234, Orig. will DRb/Pw/30, which can be found on FHL film 188800, p. 324. Abstract of the will is disappointing since it is only a "Memorandum" or non-culpative (oral) will reported to the court:
Date: 20 Aug 1639
Anthony Dennett of Tonbridge, husbandman
Everything to go to wife and children equally except Walter who is to split the portions.
Walter receives 40 shillings as long as he and his wife and children can live "lovingly."
Attested by Thomas Hawkes, John Thomas, Ann Hawkes wife of William Hawkes.
Probated 1639.
2. The name Dennet is rare in the Tonbridge Church records. The following accounts for all entries from the mid-1500s to about 1700, where the name seems to disappear thereafter.
Reviewed all St. Peter and St. Paul Tonbridge burial entries from 1550 forward to 1725. Dennet is a very rare name. Anthony's 1639 burial entry is missing because three pages in the original book for 1639 are missing in which we would find Anthony. The only recorded burial entries in the 175 year span is for his first wife in 1626, an unnamed male child in 1631, and a Mary Denett who was bur. 24 Feb 1680/1 [possibly Mary Walter married Thomas Dennet in Tonbridge].
I also reviewed the same for baptisms from 1553 to 1700. The only entries for any Dennets are for the children of Anthony Dennet and then for children of three sons of Anthony: Walt for two children, Nic for one child, and Step for three children.
No baptisms were found for the Anthony's wives Joan Worsley and Susan Oliver.
I have not reviewd the marriage register except through Family Search indexing accessed 21 Aug 2015. I can place all the marriages except for the follow some of which could possibly be widows remarrying with their married names. Also, we know that the parish baptismal register missed Stephen's christening -- could there have been other children also missed?
