    • DEATH:
      1. From Carol Hutchinson 28 Jul 2023:
Elizabeth's will is found at https://www.ancestry.com/discoveryui-content/view/861048:5111?tid=&pid=&queryId=c1a2f67620d6cd29b2eca1d362a2cc85&_phsrc=WKA34&_phstart=successSource
I believe this will may prove that the wife of Jeffery Austen is Elizabeth Austen WY8X-BD , and NOT Elizabeth Apsley. I found a marriage for a Jane Austen to a George Apsley, I believe this Jane
Austen is the following person in the will: "if my daughter Mary dies then to children of George Apesley of Levenden [I believe Levenden may be in Benenden, Kent, or I made an
indexing mistake and Levenden is actually Benenden??] -sister Jane Apelsley" [this is her married surname, not her maiden name].

      2. Based on the following will, Carol Hutchinson has a possible but acknowledged very weak speculation that perhaps Jeffrey's wife Elizabeth Austen was previously married to an unknown ___ Hickmott with whom she had a daughter named Elizabeth Hickmott. Elizabeth Austen's sister would then be the same Jane Austen who married George Apsley? The name Apsley shows in one Jeffrey's brother's will. Carol cannot find thus far any marriage of an Elizabeth Hickmott to a Jeffery Austen to prove the speculation. Also the 1638 will above for Elizabeth makes no mention of any Hickmott descendants. Here is the will:
