      1. Roger Knell in his 1599 will in Shipbourne and Edmund Knell in his 1649 will in Brenchley both are shown with the occupation of "trugger", which is a maker of long shallow baskets. This occupation helps tie Edmund of Brenchley to the person of the same name chr. in Shipbourne.

      2. Mentioned in father's will. Copy of registered will in the Rochester Consistory Court of Kent, England; FHL film 188796; Document reference DRb/Pwr/191.148 or DRb/Pw/19. My abstract:
      Date of will: 18 Nov 1599
      Roger Knell of Shipbourne, trugger.
      - "Pained by ulcers and lamenes of Lymes"
      - "Alice my wellbeloved wife" named as executrix.
      - 3 acre parcel in Shipbourne (no mention of land elsewhere)
