A. I have complete a new research I hope will clear up some of the confusion for this family. It is an extensive research gleaned from several histories, family websites, an 1870 census and sexton records. I have included a report in the memories section under documents that will explain the conclusion.
New research has confirmed Albert Hanks was the parent of Albert A. Hanks, Mary E Hanks and M.E. Hanks according to a Parowan Sexton Record which is attached as a source. In this record the children are buried next to Ruth Smith Hanks and together they are listed as parents of these 3 children. Albert's wife, Ruth was raised by Zilpha Stark with her daughter Mary Amelia Smith who later marries a Wimmer. This is where the Wimmer surname has been confused. An 1870 Census which has an incorrectly indexed surname as Wento; it is found for an "Indian couple," Albert Hanks and Ruth, they are listed as parents of 2 additional children, Albert A and Mary E. (this is a different Mary E. - see report attached in documents for more details of this family.) Two separate histories note Ruth had "five" children that did not live to adulthood.
B. Julie also wrote up a very good research treatise showing five children from Albert and Ruth. It is posted on FamilySearch in the Memories section.
