French, comp. by Coralee Griswold [Wethersfeld, CT; 1999]. The authors standardize spelling as Greswold for England and Griswold for America. As of 2012, it appears that this book is the most current evolution of the Griswold ancestry and includes all previous research up to 1999 when it was published. (It also supersedes the author's own work in 1990 for the later English generations). "John5 Greswold (William4, Richard3, Ralph2, John1) of Kyneton Hall, was born about 1390, in Solihull, Warwickshire, England. He married Margaret BROMLEY about 1413. [Warks "Antiquarian," p. 951 says Isabell, Glenn Griswold notes say Mary, but Woodall 3 Oct 1997, confirms Margaret.] She was the daughter of Henry BROMLEY and Alice HAWES of Longdon Hall, a manor just east of Ulverley. John died in Solihull, Warwickshire, England, before the 1459 deed from John6, his son, to Richard6, the vicar. Since John went to Longdon Hall after marrying the daughter of Henry Bromley, he may have been the younger. [The "Radford-Semele" article says they were married in 1480, a highly improbable date which probably was taken from the Pemberton chart indication that John "fl. 1480."] They had 3 children: i. John Greswold, born about 1414, died about 1473. [Venn, Alumni Cantabridgensis shows a John Greswold, about this time.] ii. Richard Greswold, born 1417, [Source: Woodall] Vicar of Tanworth-in-Arden from 1441 until his death in 1465 in Tanworth-In-Arden, Warwickshire, England. iii. Christian Greswold, female, born about 1420. She married John WEST. [Carpenter says she was a great-niece of Thomas5 and married John West after he became associated with Thomas Greswold in the decade between 1440-1450, so she was born c. 1420 and probably was a niece, not a great-niece.]"
