- RESEARCH_NOTES:
1. Today's Hampden County of Massachusetts was originally Middlesex County until it was split off in 1662 and named Hampshire County. Hampden County was formed from Hampshire County in 1812.
2. Censuses:
1810 US: Granby, Hartford, Connecticut, p. 17 of 20:
Samuel Gillet, males 2(10-16), 1(45+); females 1(16-26), 1(45+).
Assuming that this is the correct Samuel Gillet, he may have remarried and had additional children. There is at www.rootsweb.com/~ctcplain/granby/hale/baptistcem.html the following cemetery inscription at the Baptist Cemetery, located on North Granby Road: "Tetza Gillet - wife of Samuel Gillet, d. 11 May 1812, age 53." Could this be the right Samuel with a second wife?
