  BIOGRAPHY: 1. "Rebecca Canida Knowles Mangum, Third Wife of John Mangum." Rebecca Canida was born in England [I believe this is erroneous and Pennsylvania is more likely] on the 10th of October. There is some descrepency as to the year of her birth. One record indicated that the year was 1785, another 1787, and still another in 1790. The location of her birthplace is not known. She was the daughter of James Canida and Abigall (maiden name is unknown). Rebecca had one son from her first marriage, Jesse Knowles." BIRTH: 1. Date and place appears to be total speculation by individuals submitting LDS temple work. MARRIAGE: 1. James Knowles. Some Ordinance Index entries tentatively reference James Knowles abt 1806 of Boydton, Mecklenburg, VA. No documentation of first name or marriage is given. A better source is the temple work done for their son Jesse Knowles in 1877 by William Mangum, his step-brother which states Jesse was born 8 Feb 1805 in South Carolina. William in 1877 probably had a better information than we do presently. Abt .1804 in South Carolina appears to be a more educated guess for the marriage.
