- RESEARCH_NOTES:
1. Email dated 8 Apr 2010 from great grand-daughter Lucille Maitino :
"My mom [Theresa Miriam Herzenberg] told me her Grandfather was Isaac Herzenberg, b. Libau, Latvia, 1863 and d. Libau, Latvia ?. Her grandmother was Theresa Miriam who she was named after, and I thought her maiden name was Bernitz not Taube? b. Riga, Latvia 1850 d.? Libau. Sirry found Isaac Herzenberg's parents Leazar and Amalie Hershman. No dates."
2 Email dated 12 Apr 2010 from Lucille Maitino, granddau. of Rudolf Herzenberg
[Concerning Rudolf's grandfather:] The only other child of Elazer I know of was Daniel. Daniel and Isaac were brothers. Isaac was Rudolf's father and Isaac was the one that married Theresa Bernitz. Daniel did not marry a Bernitz. I only knew of Rudolf's mother, father and brother. I found Elazer and Amalie on the Internet."
This email was subsequently modified as follows on 29 Apr 2010:
"Daniel was not Isaac's brother but his wife's, Theresa Bernitz. Daniel Bernitz's son, Israel had a son Sammy, who married Irene Cheit. Israel also had a daughter Sybil who married Gerorge Satin. There was another son Allen, who was somewhere in Germany. Israel's fourth child was Irene who married Harley Phannenstiel. I'm not sure you had the Bernitz side of the tree, but these were notes from my Mom."
3. Website of Peter Bruce Herzenberg of London, England (since relocated to South Africa). Website is no longer functioning as of 7 Aug 2007. Copies of much of his data from the website in my possession. He indicates references by codes, which pertain to the original source and file held in his database, which I have not seen. I have no key to the sources except HL is Leonardo Herzenberg, HG is Gail Herzenberg, PC is probably Piltene Cemetery records, LA is probably Latvian Archives, FA is probably Aleksandrs Feigmanis (Latvian researcher hired by Harold Hodes), and YL is Len Yodaiken (Israeli researcher hired by Harold Hodes); however, he lists the main researchers and their contributions in a lengthy report which I include in full in the notes of the earliest Herzenberg of this database. In regards to this individual:
HW shows Miriam Taube with no other information.
