      1. Per the newspaper "The Winters Express," June 18, 1943, p. 1:
      "Last Rites Monday for C.C. Cooper.
      Funeral rites for Charles C. Cooper who died Thrusday in napa where he had been hospitalized ten days, were conducted Monday afternnon from the Presbyerian church. Kraft Brothes gave directionand Rev. Lee Sadler had the devotiional service, assisted by Lt. E. N. Granlund, pastor of the church. Mrs. Lee Sadler was soloist, accompanied by Mrs. H.E. Mermod.
      Charles Cooper was born May 28, 1860 in Buckeye and has had almost continuous residence in and around Winters during all his long life span he was he son of the late early day settlers, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Cooper who came to Buckeye in 1857, and reared six children to adult years.
      Deceased was educated in Buckey and Dixon schools and took up farming. He followed grain farming during his young manhood, and later purchased an orchard home on the Davis road that he operated until retirement a few years ago.
      He was married in July, 1906, to Miss Mary Nicholson at Broderick, and a most congenial companionship was terminated at her death in August, 1938. Both were members of the Presbyterian church, and both were prominent in fraternal circles in days gone by. Cooper was a Native Son, a Pythian Knight and a member of the Mystic Workers.
      George D. Cooper, brother, is the only survivor of the pioneer Cooper family circle. Sisters who are deceased, all well-known in Yolo county are, Mrs. J.P. Grafton, Mrs. John Baker, Mrs. John Wilgus and Mrs. William Bentley. Nephews and nieces, all local of former local residents, are A.L. Cooper, Modesto; Henry Grafton, Sacramento; Wilbur Baker, Los Angeles; Mrs Minnie Baty, Dorris; Charles Wilgus, Ukiah; Henry Bentley, Davis; Mrs. T.F. Brattin, Woodland; Mrs. Anne Cannon, winters.
      Commital rites were observed in tth local cemetery. Casket-bearers were Fred Sims, Fred Moody, J.F. and G.M. Vasey, Preston Rhodes, E.L. Dexter."

      OBITUARY:
      1. Per the newspaper "The Winters Express," Friday, Aug. 26, 1938, p. 1:
      "Sad Rites for Mrs. C. Cooper.
      Funeral services will be held this afternoon in the Presbyterian Church for Mrs. Mary Nichols Cooper, who died Tuesday at a Woodland hospital. A native of Calistoga, aged 75, Mrs. Cooper had resided in this section and had many close friends who testify to her worthy character and life of service for others. Before her marriage to Mr. Cooper, in July 1906, she made her home with her sister, Mrs. Evans, at that time Mrs. Will McClure, local resident for many years.
      She was a member of the local Presbyterian Church for 26 years and until her late years of affliction was an attendant at its worship. She was also active in local fraternal circles in years gone by.
      She is survived by her husband, Charles C. Cooper, two sisters, Mrs. T.L. Evans and Mrs. Grace Brietzke of Sacramento, and several nieces and nephews. Of the latter, Mrs. E.P. Werner, Charles and Herbert McClure of Sacramento formerly l resided here.
      Kraft Brothers are in charge of funeral services and Rev. Lee Sadler will officiate. members of the Presbyterian Church choir will offer song service."

[Tombstone clearly gives John's death as 28 Feb, which then makes his birth date 20 Jul 1840, both of which are at variance to what dates I have been using.]
