      1. Henry R. Stiles, "The History and Genealogies of Ancient Windsor, Connecticut," 1892, v. 2, pp. 117-118: "Peter Brown, ancestor of the Windsor Browns, carpenter, came to Plymouth in the Mayflower, 1620, being then unmarried; in div. of Plymouth lands, 1623, had but one acre of land assigned to him; but in 1627, in div. of cattle, his name, with those of Mary and Martha Brown, occurs, each of them receiving a share in the lot; he d. 1633, invent. presented, Oct. 4, 1633. The order of Court on sett. of his est. mentions his having had 'divers children by divers wives.' Mary, his wid., was second wife and administratrix; and, aside from ₤15 sett. on his two daus., rec'd the remainder of his est. for support of her young family.
Peter (son of the above), b. 1632, rem. from Duxbury, Mass.; m. 15 Jul 1638, Mary (prob. dau. of Jonathan or Nathan) Gillett; he admitted to Windsor Church 22 Jun 1662 (O.C.R.); bought in Windsor same year (Jun 28) house and lot of Robert Hayward, 'near the mill,' and doubtless resided there until he bought the Josias Ellsworth place near William Phelps, Jr., 31 Jan 1664, which since has been called the Peter Brown place, and became conspicuous about the beginning of present century because of the opposition of its then occupant (a Peter Brown) to the opening of a new road which left his ho. in the lot, etc. This ho. was demolished some 30 years since. He contributed 7d. to the Conn. Col. relief Fund for the Poor of other Colonies, 1676; his wife owned Half-Way Cov't in Windsor Church 17 Jul 1659. - O.C.R. 4. The book "The 'Mary and John," chapter "The Passengers," p. 37:
"Jonathan and Nathan Gillett were the sons of Rev. William Gillett, Rector of Chaffcombe, co. Somerset, who died in 1641. 5. 20 Mar 2008 http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~bart/Gillet.htm:
"Mary Gillett born late 1637/early 1638 in Dorchester, married Peter Brown/BrownE 15 July 1658 in Windsor, died 27 Aug. 1719 in Windsor. Peter was born ca. 1632, died 9 Mar. 1691/2 in Windsor (a son of Peter Brown of the Mayflower?). His estate amounted to £480. Peter and Mary had 12 children. For a continuation of this line see Jacobus, Donald L. & Herschel S. Murphy, "Peter Brown of Windsor, CT" (TAG, 1957), 33:214 - 222."
Cornelius, the brother of Mary, assisted in the probate of Peter Browne: "On 23 Mar. 1691 Cornelius Gillett and two others took inventory of the estate of Peter Browne, Sr., of Windsor. It amounted to £408-15-06. [Manwaring, Charles W., "A Digest of Early CT Probate Records, 1687-1695," 127-8.]"

      6. Mentioned in the will of Jeremiah Gillett per "A Digest of the Early Connecticut Probate Records," Vol. I, by Charles Wm. Manwaring, P. 452: "Page 159. (Will on File). Gillett, Jeremiah, Windsor. Invt. £56-12-00. Taken 19 March, 1692-3, by Job Drake Jr., James Enno and Joseph Phelps Jr. Will dated 17 December, 1692.
I Jeremiah Gillett of Windsor doe make this my last Will & Testament: I give to my wife all my whole Estate for her Use & Improvement during the time of her natural life, as also my house & Homested, the Land being 3 acres more or less, bounding East on Josiah Gillet, north the Highway, West Jonathan Gillett, South against the Mill Brooke. I give my Marsh Land at Simsbury (the sd. Land given me by his last Will) I give to my wife as her proper Right, to sell or dispose of to whom she will. I give my daughter Deborah, at the day of her marriage, my Woodland, which is 10 acres more or less. I give my Homested, that Land being 5 acres more or less, to my daughter Deborah after her Mother's Decease. My Will is my wife shall give my daughter, after her marriage, 20 shillings per year, to be paid in Apples or Syder, or in Both. I constitute my wife to be sole Executrix. Witness: John Fyler, Benjamin Bartlett. [Signed:] Jeremiah Gillett. LS.
Court Record, Page 56 - 12 April, 1693: A Will was exhibited in Court and was not allowed. Some Testimony was offered by Timothy Phelps sen., age 54 years, Joseph Loomis, age 41 years, son of John Loomis, Peter Brown, age 25 years, & Joseph Skiner. Order to Dist. the Estate to the Widow Deborah and the daughter. Adms. was granted to James Eno & Deborah the Relict.
Page 62 - 7 September, 1693: It appears the daughter had died. This Court now Order her part of Jeremiah Gillett's Estate to be divided among the uncles and aunts, her father's brothers and sisters. Lt. Return Strong and Mr. John Porter appointed Distributors.
Page 36 - (Vol. VI) 13 April, 1698: Whereas, there have been differences between Jonathan Gillett of Windsor in behalf of himself and his brothers & sisters on the one part, and Samuel Adams of the same Windsor on behalf of his wife Deborah, as she was Adms. to the Estate of Jeremiah Gillett, her late Husband, on the other part, respecting the division of the estate of the sd. Jeremiah Gillett, which was ordered by the Court to him sd. Jonathan Gillett, and set out to him and them, his brothers and sisters, by Lt. Returne Strong and Mr. John Porter, by the Order of sd. Court, as by the Records of the Court may fully appear. And that the sd. Difference may be put to an End and fully issued, they the sd. Gillett and the sd. Adams have mutually and full agreed, and do by these presents fully and absolutely agree in manner and form following: ( - - ) And for Confirmation hereof, and every part of this Agreement, we have hereunto set our Hands this 30th day of April, 1695. Witness: Daniel Clarke sen., Joseph Mygatt.
[Signed:] Jonathan Gillett, Peter Brown, Cornelius Gillett, Samuel X Adams, DEBORAH X Adams."
[From this we ascertain that Jeremiah's wife was Deborah who later married Samuel Adams. Brothers include Jonathan, Cornelius; and a probable nephew: Peter Brown (probably a nephew at age 25 in 1693). We can also infer a probable relationship with next door neighbor Josiah Gillett. Also confirms ages of Timothy Phelps, Sr. at 54 in 1693 and Joseph Loomis (son of John) as 41 in 1693.]

      7. Mentioned in the will of brother-in-law John Gillett per "A Digest of the Early Connecticut Probate Records," Vol. I, by Charles Wm. Manwaring, P. 452: "Page 121.

He returned to England to marry and they returned to New England on the "Recovery of London" in March 1634. If his brothers did not accompany him in 1630 they probably did in 1634. The bible he brought from England, printed in 1599, is now on display at the Windsor Historical Society in Windsor, CT. A note in the bible says Jonathan Gillett came to New England a second time in June 1635. He actually came in 1634. Children (Search Series Vol. 5, pp. 49-77).

      MARRIAGE:
      1. Manuscript from the Windsor CT. Historical Society Library of Jay Mack Holbrook entitled "Conn. Colonists - Windsor 1635-1703" has the following listings for Gillets. I am not sure what the references refer to, but they appear to be a compilation of mentioned names in original sources. I have rearranged the entries to be chronological rather than alphabetical as presented by the book compiler:
