      2. The book "Pioneer Women of Faith and Fortitude" by Daughters of Utah Pioneers (photo accompanies article): "Eliza Ann Hales Ogilvie, b. 27 Nov 1840 at Quincy, Adams, Illinois, d. 4 Jan 1899 at Richfield, Sevier, Utah, parents are Charles Henry Hales and Julia Ann Lockwood, pioneer of Sep 1852 of the Edward Hunter Wagon Company, m. Dr. George Ogilvie 2 Mar 1857 (he died 23 Sep 1918 at Richfield, Sevier, Utah), children:
      Eliza Ann, 16 Apr 1858
      George William, 15 Mar 1860
      Mary Isabella, 28 Jul 1862
      Charles Henry, 13 Mar 1865
Joseph, 8 Jul 1867 (died at 9 months)
Eliza became a responsible person very early in her life since she was the oldest of 12 children in her family. She helped her mother wherever she could during very trying times. Her family experienced the persecution of the mobs before and after the murder of the Prophet Joseph Smith and his brother, Hyrum Smith. Eliza endured hardships of pioneer life and the sorrow of losing her beloved grandmother, Mary Ann Hales, on the journey to Utah. The Hales family was traveling with the Edward Hunter Wagon Company and arrived in Salt Lake Valley in Sep. 1852. Eliza married Dr. George Ogilvie and they became the parents of five children. They were some of the original settlers of Richfield, Utah. She was called to be Relief Society President during the time the silk industry was started and continued in the presidency for 8 years. During the Indian troubles, the settlers of Richfield were advised to move north to larger settlements for safety. They moved back to Spanish Fork from about 1867 until 1870 before they returned to Sevier Valley. Eliza's son, Charles Henry, was shot and killed instantly when he was 20 years old. Eliza's life was one of hard work and service to others. Her childen and grandchildren loved her and enjoyed the biscuits she made for breakfast every morning. She and her husband did a lot of temple work in the Manti temple. She remained faithful to the principles of the gospel until her death on Jan. 4, 1899."
