TALKING TO GRANDSON RAY EUTENEUER HE SAID SHE IS BURIED IN ST BONAVENTURE IN COLUMBUS, NE. SHE CAME FROM BENTON WHERE SHE WAS LIVING WITH HER FRIMML SISTER, AND SHE GOT MARRIED AND MOVED TO NE. RAMONA EUTENEUER ALSO INSISTS THAT HER GRANDPA AND GRANDMA ARE BURIED IN ST BONAVENTURE. UNSURE WHO HAD HER ENDING UP IN BENTON, BUT I BELIEVE IT IS IN ERROR. SO CHANGED IT FROM WAYKING, BENTON, IA TO ST BONAVENTURE.

120 1 NAME Louis Solomon /Gossman/
2 GIVN Louis Solomon
2 SURN Gossman

From the notes of Kent M. Gossman:
Elmer Gossman's notes, p. 48 show a baptism of a Daniel Gossman, son of Andrew and Ann Gossman, on 13 APR 1823 at St. Barnabas Church, Deavertown, Morgan Co., OH.
BRIDGET'S NAME LISTED IN MORMON TEMPLE AS BRIGITTA. SOLOMONS FIRST NAME IS THOUGHT TO BE LEV, BUT VERY LITTLE DOCUMENTATION TO PROVE IT. THERE WERE A COUPLE OF OTHER NAMES OF LEV USED IN THE HISTORY OF THE FAMILY. MOST LIKELY NAME I CAN SEE IS LOUIS. HE HAD A SON NAMED LOUIS, HIS GRANDSON ALFRED WAS NAMED ALFRED LOUIS, ANOTHER GRANDSON VIA CAROLINE NAMED LOUIS EUTENEUER, ANOTHER GRANDSON VIA CHARLES NAMED LOUIS GOSSMAN.
OBITUARY WAS SIMPLE: MORGAN COUNTY HERALD, 13 NOV 1895, DEAVERSTOWN NEWS. SOLOMAN GOSSMAN DIED AT HIS HOME NEAR HERE LAST TUESDAY, INTERMENT AT McLUNEY THURSDAY.
MY GRANDFATHER LISTED DEATH AS 25 OCT, NOT 29 OCT.

from the notes of Arnold Van Horn:
"The 1880 Census for York Township, Morgan County, Ohio relates that Solamon and Bridget were living there with 5 of their children. The 1870 Census for the same area shows them there with 9 children."

L. Solomon Gossman

121 from the notes of Kent M. Gossman:
Was twin to sister (child 3) who died in infancy. Name Jennings was named after an unknown big wig like a senator of the late 1800's who was named William Jennings Brian. Lived in Nebraska until MAR 1 1944, when they moved to a farm near Thompson, IA. In October, 1957 they retired and moved to Buffalo Center, IA. Their only son Duane bought most of the farm and continued it's operation.
MY DAD'S FAMILY FARM WAS LOCATED FROM PLATTE CENTER- 1/2 MI SOUTH, 1 MI EAST, 2 MI SOUTH, 1 MI EAST. FROM COLUMBUS, THERE'S A DAM AND MAN MADE LAKE JUST NORTH OF TOWN ON 18TH AVE. THE OTHER END OF TOWN HAS A LIKE ROAD GOING NORTH WHICH IS 48TH AVE. IF YOU TAKE THE 48TH AVE ROAD NORTH ABOUT 3-4 MILES UNTIL YOU HIT THE SAME ROAD AS THE LAKE (GOING EAST) JUST BEFORE THAT WILL BE WHAT THEY CALLED "PUNKIN HILL" WHICH HAS NOW DEVELOPED TO NICE HOUSES ON A RIDGE OF A HILL. THEN YOU TURN AND GO WEST. JUST AFTER 2 SMALL CURVES IN THE ROAD AND BEFORE YOU HIT THE CREEK/BRIDGE WILL BE THE HOME PLACE FOR ALFRED GOSSMAN ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE ROAD. ONCE YOU PASS THE BRIDGE/CREEK ON THE SOUTH SIDE IS THE HOME PLACE FOR MY FATHER DUANE. MY FATHER AND I VISITED IT IN 1995, IT STILL HAD THE GARAGE JUST EAST OF DRIVEWAY THAT MY FATHER AND GRANDFATHER BUILT. JUST S.W. OF THE HOUSE IS WHAT THEY CALLED A SUMMER KITCHEN. THE HOUSE IS NOT VERY BIG, DAD SAID HIS ROOM WAS UPSTAIRS ON THE N.E. CORNER. THE NEXT PLACE TO THE WEST WAS EARL'S HOMEPLACE AND WILLIAMS HOMEPLACE. THEY HAVE NOW TURNED THIS AREA INTO A TRAILER PARK AND HOUSING DEVELOPMENT. ALTHOUGH THE HOUSE HAS HAD THE PORCH RIPPED OUT AND MASSIVE REMODELING, IT IS STILL THE ORIGINAL HOUSE WHERE MY GRANDPA WAS BORN. THE FAMILY CEMETARY (ST. PATRICKS WITH ST. JOSEPH'S SHARING IT LATER ON AND GOING UNDER THE SAME NAME) IS JUST THE NEXT MILE WEST AND 1 MILE NORTH. THERE IS A ROAD THAT GOES AROUND THE CEMETARY TO THE EAST. THERE WAS ORIGINALLY A CHURCH ON THE PREMISES JUST INSIDE THE SOUTH GATE ON THE WEST SIDE, BUT IT'S NO LONGER THERE. THE OLDEST GRAVES WE FOUND DATED BACK TO 1860'S. AND ALTHOUGH THE KAIPUST FAMILY PLOT IS ON THE FAR NORTH END OF THE INSIDE ROAD, I CAN'T FIND YAN KAPPUST'S GRAVE. I SEEM TO RECALL FROM THE COUNTY RECORDS THERE ARE 6 UNMARKED GRAVES THERE. THE PUBLIC LIBRARY HAS INDEXED BOOKS OF ALL GRAVES IN THE COUNTY IN ALL CEMETARIES. THE CEMETARY ALSO HAD A LARGE STATUE THAT WAS DONATED WITH ANGELS AND A CRUCIFIX. IT IS VERY NICE, THE GRAVES OF MICHAEL KAIPUST ARE JUST BEHIND IT TO THE WEST.
FROM COLUMBUS (THEY LIVED 8 MILES FROM COLUMBUS AND 5 MILES FROM PLATTE CENTER) THE KAIPUST'S WERE BURIED ON WEST SIDE LAST ONES ON LEFT IF GOING THRU BY THE NORMAL GATES WHICH GENERALLY STAY CLOSED. JUST OUTSIDE AND ACROSS THE CANAL ABOUT 3/4 MILE ON THE NORTH SIDE WAS THE SITE OF THE SCHOOL HOUSE THAT MY FATHER ATTENDED. THEY CONSTRUCTED MAKE SHIFT BRIDGES FOR THE CHILDREN TO CROSS THE CREEK, SO THEY WOULDN'T HAVE TO DRIVE THEM ALL THE WAY AROUND TO THE NEXT ROAD TO CROSS THE CREEK.

125 from the notes of Kent M. Gossman:
GRAVES OF MAGGIE AND ALICE ARE UNMARKED. I WAS IN THE CEMETERY IN THE MID 1990'S, AND MY FATHER DESCRIBED THE GRAVE LOCATION AS SHOWN HIM BY HIS FATHER AS ON THE SOUTHWEST CORNER, NOT BESIDE THE FENCE, BUT IN A LITTLE DIVIT AREA ABOUT 1/2 WAY TO THE SOUTH FENCE. THE FOUNDATION CORNERS OF THE CHURCH THAT BURNED WERE STILL VISIBLE.

132 Living at Route #3, Columbus, Nebraska, in 1935.

from the notes of Kent M. Gossman:
Worked on father Solomon's farm and operated sawmills near Crooksville, OH and in Kentucky. Moved to Nebraska shortly after marriage 4 April 1893. Farmed 8 miles northwest of Columbus, NE in Shell Creek Township and lived there until he died. CAME TO NEBRASKA PROBABLY SINCE HE HAD OLDER SISTER CAROLINE WHO MOVED TO SAME AREA, AS WELL AS YOUNGER BROTHER CHARLES. Was Justice of the Peace for Shell Creek Twp. and served on the school District 4 board. He died in a Columbus hospital. Had been ill as the result of a stroke suffered about four years before his death. After his death, his wife moved to Buffalo Center, Iowa to be near sons Leo and Earl. She had his remains moved to the Buffalo Center Cemetary so he could be buried with her. HE WAS INITIALLY BURIED IN ROSLAWN CEMETERY IN COLUMBUS, NE, AND WAS NOT BURIED NEAR HIS DAUGHTERS IN ST. PATRICKS/JOSEPHS.
MY GRANDPA SAID HE WAS BORN IN 1864, NOT 1863. MIDDLE INITIAL FROM TOMBSTONE.

133 from the notes of Kent M. Gossman:
Always went by name Earl. Farmer. Farmed the family farm until 1944 when they moved to a farm near Thompson, IA. His mother moved with them and lived with them for awhile but also lived in her own house in Buffalo Center during some period.
HIS MEMORIAL LISTED HIS BIRTHDAY AS MAR 3, I HAD IT AS MAR 4. ASSUMING HIS CHILDREN KNEW WHEN HE WAS BORN, I CHANGED IT TO MAR 3. HE MARRIED AND THEN HIS WIFE MOVED IN WITH HIS PARENTS AND HIM. HIS FATHER WILLIAM KEPT HIM ACTIVE IN FARMING IN NEBRASKA. WILLIAM DIED AND THEN HE STAYED IN THE HOUSE WITH HIS MOTHER AND HIS FIRST 3 CHILDREN WERE BORN THERE. THEY THEN MOVED TO IOWA AND BELLE CONTINUED TO LIVE WITH EARL AND PEARL FOR WHAT MY FATHER REMEMBERS WAS 6-8 MORE YEARS. AFTER THAT THE BOYS PURCHASED THE HOUSE IN BUFFALO CENTER FOR HER TO LIVE AND EARL LIVED ON SAME FARM IN THOMPSON FOR 52 YEARS. HE WAS AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE TRUSTEE DRAIN #13 IN 1968. HIS WIFE WENT INTO THE NURSING HOME (WITH A BELIEVE M.S.) WHILE I WAS IN JUNIOR HIGH OR HIGH SCHOOL.
